Croatian Folkloric Ensemble Zvonimir
Zvonimir Folklore Ensemble was established in 1993 as part of the Croatian Catholic Center, Springvale, Melbourne. The vision for “Zvonimir” was and still remains, to engage the youth of the Croatian community in Melbourne. We wish to create a base for them to socialize, establish lifelong friendships while having fun learning about Croatian history and our culture.
We take great pride in treating each and every dancer as a valued member of our Zvonimir family. Currently we have over 50 active dancers ranging from Junior, Intermediate and Adult. Zvonimir has travelled and performed at Croatian events all across Australia, we continue to engage with Croatian Folkloric clubs not only throughout Australia but also in Croatia and the USA as well.
Our new committee has enlisted the help of choreographer Zeljko Jergan from USA. With more than 12 years of experience, he has more than 450 original choreographies to his credit, which have been set for nearly 100 performing ensembles. He has collaborated with some of the foremost composers and musicians in the Croatian folklore world. His popularity in the recreational folk dance community has extended to several countries, including the US, Canada, Europe, Japan and Taiwan. His attention to style and detail keeps him in high demand and we are very excited and honoured to work with Zeljko.
So with our long and proud history and with the dedication of our committee, the enthusiasm of our dancers, the commitment of our teachers and the support of each and every parent we look forward to many more years of Zvonimir and keeping this beautiful Croatian tradition alive and thriving in Melbourne.
